| Four
lane Bailey Hill Road in Eugene, Oregon, is set for a road diet. A
ten-year-old boy was killed crossing the street here when cars in
the curb lane stopped, but a speeding car in the second lane did not.
This type of "Multiple Threat" crash is common on four lane
roads. The new configuration will have three lanes -- one through
lane in each direction, and a left turn lane or a raised median as
needed. It will be easier and safer to cross.
