| The Allegheny
Highlands Trail shares a right of way with the Western Maryland Scenic
Railroad from Cumberland to Frostburg. From there to Pittsburgh, the
trail follows an abandoned railroad right of way, including a number
of long tunnels and bridges. When combined with the C&O Canal
towpath, the trail provides an off-road route from Pittsburgh to Washington.
