Two streets in Chinatown, Davis and Flanders, were transformed with special pavement, granite plinth entrance features, and an absence of curbs. Most of the time they serve as calm local streets, but they can be closed to automobiles and then serve as a large level area for special events. In a neighborhood with little public space set aside for parks, the public space of the streets can serve multiple functions.
