Large infrastructure projects often lack a human dimension. This may not be obvious to drivers going by at a high rate of speed. However, for pedestrians a blank concrete retaining wall can be very unfriendly. At this overpass in Seattle, adding texture to the concrete wall of the bridge ramp helps to soften its visual impact.
